Mud Pies

on a hot day, when the dirt is crackled and steam is rising off the wet patio

and your children are water-logged from days upon days of swimming

wet down that dirt, throw in some sand and dollar store sprinklers

and "cook" up some mud pies in the blazing sun

remember to eat them in pretend land, because they look good enough to eat
