Easter's Past

I have been trying to think of some creative ways to get the kids excited about Easter and start traditions for our family to celebrate as well. I have a difficult time being creative for the Easter holiday, so I started looking back on past photographs of the kids to get some inspiration. These pics stood out to me for "mommy" reasons. The one of B above reminds me of how sweet and chubby my tall and lanky little man used to be, and the one underneath is literally the first time I snapped a photo of Ben standing unassisted.

This next photo was a first time dying eggs for both the kids, for B was too small the year prior and E was in my belly:) It makes me think fondly of our first family home, and I laugh at what happened immediately after this photo....E discovered that the egg does break when bitten into.
I have made some decisions about a few traditions I would like to try after looking at these pictures, but more than any decision made, my heart is heavy with the realization that it all goes by so fast, I am so glad I'm documenting these special moments.

Spring is here!

Looks like Spring is here to stay! We love this time of year, playing outdoors all day long, picnics with dirty fingernails, crocs and muddy toes, bruised knees and sun burns.
And of course

Come by and visit my new blog......aliclicks

A place where I hope to watch a dream become reality

A Gift

Thank you so much my dear friend Ashley for letting me capture your son as he approached his 24th hour of life. What an amazing opportunity to have a chance to share this time with a friend who means the world to me and to see you experience the gift that Luke is to your growing family. I forever admire you in the role of motherhood, and I am proud to have you in my life. I can't wait to watch your family develop and love in this new journey God has given you. Thank you for believing in me and helping me make a dream feel more like a reality.

And the Winner is.....ME!!!!!

I WON! And I never win anything! Including the 5th grade spelling bee that I lost to Jason Tally when I misspelled heroes, forgetting the second "e". I digress.............I did WIN a contest on a blog a while back and.......

Mandi at Finding Home  was kind enough to get these lovely pillows for me from CSN

Couldn't you just build an ENTIRE room around them!!!!

Tuckered Out

The evening after a long day at the Tulsa Aquarium, this is what my baby girl looked like just before 7pm with no nap in the car on the way home, even with "the Princess and the Frog" on the television.

Winter Storm Watch

On the Friday night of our 'spring' break a weather advisory was released. 100% chance of snow in the next 24 hours. In the same day we spent the morning at Wildcat Park and picnicked along the trail, drove home with the windows down, roasted hot dogs and smores on the new fire pit, let the kids run around half naked as the dirt caked on their clothing and we removed it. And I went to bed with a sun burn. {Southwest Missouri}

Third Thursday

Last night we went to the first downtown third Thursday of the year. It was a great evening of new art work, sharing dinner, visiting the uncle's store, and watching street performers. B and E had a good time watching all the people and anticipating what the street performers would do next. We were a little disappointed that the fountains were not full yet, for we came with our wallet and coin purses packed and ready, but there were plenty of distractions to keep the disappointment at bay. It was nice to see so many people out and we are hopeful that each month brings more fun!

Sinfully Delicious

For dinner with new friends, this is a fabulous dessert to take and impress the eater:)It is a favorite in our home. Not just for the end result, but the seperate mixtures of chocolate to stir and lick the spoon! It is SO sinfully delicious, our one-time neighbor and now friend decided it deserved the name "Chocolate Naughty"........ for it is so sinful, it is naughty to eat! Try it, I am sure you will agree.

  • Butter for ramekins
  • 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 stick (4 ounces) unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup superfine sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips

Place baking sheet in an oven preheated to 400°. Butter four 2/3-cup ramekins and set aside.

Using a microwave oven or double boiler, melt together the semisweet chocolate and the butter. Set aside to cool.

In a separate bowl, combine eggs, sugar and flour. Add cooled chocolate mixture, and mix until blended. Fold in white chocolate chips.

Divide mixture evenly among ramekins and place on baking sheet. Bake until tops are shiny and cracked and chocolate beneath is hot and gooey, about 20 minutes. Place each ramekin on a small plate with a teaspoon and serve, reminding children that ramekins and chocolate are hot.
