I love having fresh flowers in our home. Not flowers from the florist that someone has arranged and charged a ridiculous amount to have my husband send me. No, I like wildflowers off the side of the road, and 'orphan' flowers from the market or grocery store that I can bring home, cut and place in my random vases throughout the house. They make me smile, really big. However, they are pricey, and I rarely spend the money. But yesterday I cleaned my house, and opened my windows for the first time in what feels like forever, so I bought a few of my personal favorites, and I am glad I did! Can you see me smiling?
Along the same lines of flowers, another thing I just can't bring myself to spend money on, but makes me so happy when I have it in my home, candles. Everything is more beautiful when lit by a candle, don't you agree? I think it is because the dust is less obvious by candlelight. Whatever the case may be, I wish I was not haunted by the feeling I have that I am 'burning money' and I may just indulge a bit more often on a second thing that makes me smile.
What makes you smile?

I agree with BOTH of those! And you know what else? I love seeing adults eat ice cream cones. Maybe that's strange....but there is something in the total abandoment of grown-up-ness that makes me warm and fuzzy!

That makes me want to take a walk with the kids and pick flowers to put in a vase for our dining room table! How inspiring! I love candles, too! I always have a candle lit! It just makes a home a home. Your blogs are so uplifting! They really make you sit back and appreciate the little things in life! Bravo!
