The Brave Tooth

This precious little boy had a great time on our park hop today. We headed out to our first venue this a.m. only to be met with a very large crop from a local pre-school celebrating their entrance to summer. After 30 minutes or so of total chaos (small park, big school) MomBE decided it may be time for the two little bodies to go elsewhere. So we hoped in the car and took the short drive to another park that had very few competitors for a turn on the swing. After a quick bite under the park's gazebo, we were at play once again......
It was not long before....... I watched in fear as this precious boy fell to the ground from the top of the 6 ft. "bridge ladder" less than 2 feet from where I was standing, yet I could do nothing
The result, well, the picture says it all.........No scratches, no other bruises, not even a bloody lip. As he must have been having so much fun he was smiling wide ALL the way down...... even when the bar met his front tooth

Just a chip in that amazing smile
That STILL AMAZING smile!

A Weekly Event

Last Friday we went to the local Farmer's Market. I was not sure what to expect in a smaller town, and was pleasantly surprised at all it had to offer. The kids LOVED it. We arrived without a stroller and were quickly offered a wooden radio flyer red wagon to tour the market. I scooped up B and E, got them each a little dixie cup of water and a homemade roll from the artisan bread maker at the entrance. We were off  to explore. We sought the sound of string instruments, and found three lovely older ladies playing praise songs beaming with smiles. B learned what a lap dulcimer and hammer dulcimer were, and was proud to tell the ladies he already knew what the "mitar" was called. B and E got to show off their mad skills on the shakers the ladies loaned them. After a few small purchases of strawberries and bread, we dropped the wagon off to the next needy Mommy and took off up the steep hill to the Praying Hands" (or Giant Hands as B likes to say) It was a picture perfect day. B and E enjoyed the sun on their faces and the breeze through their hair. I snapped a few photos, and we just sat in silence together, watching the world go by. For a brief moment, I swear the world stopped and it was just the three of us. My mind took a snapshot of that moment and filed it away into that place in your brain flagged "remember this always."  As my tagalongs reluctantly followed me to the car I thought to myself "there is no better way to spend every Friday." The only thing missing in the equation was our favorite Fourth, so I put a call into Dad-o on the sleepy eyed drive back home and informed him that next Friday he will be taking a personal day.

Not Me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

So if you do not YET know of the phenomenon sweeping the country called MckMama, check her out at the above link. And if you do, read my Not Me's First and then go to her blog, b/c I TOTALLY can't compete with her....YET!

I certainly did not feed my children cheese and crackers for lunch on two different occasions this week because we got home from our outing so long after lunch time that I just wanted to get something in their tummies so they would nap.

I did not snap this precious photo of my son playing out at the farm even though I knew he was indeed filling his pants at that very moment, I would NEVER!

And in case you wonder, I ALWAYS send my daughter to school with a perfectly clean face, groomed hair and brushed teeth, arriving on time, looking always like a million bucks myself with a dapper little boy on the other arm.I would never send her looking like this, Not me!

I never ignore the rules of our house. For example, the one about the canvas drawers that we store our toys in NOT being building blocks or chairs to sit in, because they get all stretched out and then do not fit perfectly in their cubby home. I would never ignore that rule just to get a good picture of my daughter eating her special treat from her poppy! Who would do such a thing? NOT me!

Such a LADY

The video is a bit dark, and the moment I was trying to "capture" is at the VERY beginning. But, I had to upload it anyway! I have no idea where my daughter learned this! No, really, all kidding aside. We certainly have our faults/quirks in this household, but burping followed by a proclamation to "excuse me" is TRULY NOT one of the things she witnesses in this house, which just makes this all the more hilarious!

Recipe for Respite: Grow Capsules

We LOVE the dollar bin at Target and the Dollars stores speckled all over our town. We recently discovered grow capsules, 12 for one dollar in the Target bins. B especially loves these little things. This particular kind had an entire package of BUGS...a big hit with any boy! E thinks they are candy, so we busy her with a little something else. But, nonetheless, they are still too much fun for B and I. So I am not sure this activity can be classified as respite for the MomBE, because I technically took no break in the process. But, we had fun and it was a semi-relaxing to do. So, you be the judge........

A little something for Aunt Nicole

I do this blog for LOTS of reasons, but one big reason is to share my children with their Aunt Nicole, who has not seen them since, well.......lets just say its been too long. So, experimenting with my camera today I discovered that it actually records video. And, although the stills are great.........well, just let the video speak for itself. Get a load of this sweet little surfer boy!
